Wilmington News Journal "Delaware public health scientists now have equipment that can
accurately detect diseases and pathogens used in biological warfare
much more quickly than in the past," reports the News Journal.
"The state will be able to get out health warnings faster by using
computer modeling and analysis to amplify and accelerate by up to 1,000
times the growth of micro-organisms, break down enzymes in DNA or RNA
and take more accurate reads on bacteria grown the old-fashioned way-in
culture dishes, said Jane Getchell, director of Delaware Public Health
Laboratory in Smyrna." |
